#137 Why Weight Loss is not about appearence
Losing weight is not just about appearance.
Yes vanity plays a part, we all want our clothes to fit well and we want to look good but there is so much more to weight loss than outside appearances or being a certain size.
- Weight loss may also be about health for you-but we can be overweight and healthy.
- Losing weight may give you the freedom to do things that you can't do or won't do now
But for most of my clients, I see weight loss being about self-esteem, self-worth and taking their personal power back.
- When you truly want to lose weight but can't.
- When you just can't stay in control long enough to get results.
- When in every battle with chips or biscuits the food wins.
It erodes your self-confidence and self-worth.
Every time the food won I would call myself names like fat, ugly and stupid. The more I felt fat, ugly and stupid the more I ate to take the pain away.
We think that when we get to a certain weight our life will somehow be transformed, people will love us more, show us more respect we will be happier and better at our jobs. But the truth is we are the same person with the same brain in a smaller body. Nothing changes except your size and that can be disappointing so maintaining the weight loss is hard.
This is why I believe that you need to take the time to fall in love with your before photo!
Fall in love with the body that you have now.
Hard I know. But this is one of the things that I help my clients with.
When you love and respect yourself today you can start making better choices and food decisions from a place of respect.
No restriction or deprivation but nourishing your body because you deserve it.
Appreciate the wonder of you!
The amazing and random DNA and cells that by pure chance have come together at this time, on this planet to be you.
What are the chances of that!
Nourish the cells that are you with good quality nutrients, so that your amazing body can do its job of replicating cells and making a stronger healthier you.
The human body thrives on movement and being outside too. So make the effort to get out of the cocoon of your car, office, and bed triad and get outside and move a little every day.
Look at a tree, a cloud a child and fall back in love with your life as you are right now!
Don't hate your body.
Your body is just doing its job, doing the best that it can with the tools that you give it.
I challenge you to find a positive every day this week and fall back in love with your life. Start small for example my hair is cool, I love that my arms can hug my partner, and I like that my legs are strong enough to carry me up the stairs.
