#167 Snacking
The problem with snacking is that:
- We often eat when we aren’t hungry
- We believe food manufacturers when it comes to what is a "healthy" choice
- We eat out of habit, boredom, and peer pressure.
- It becomes a habit to snack for entertainment.
Ideally, eat 3 meals a day with one snack if you get physically hungry between meals.
Do this by planning and eating enough in your main meals to carry you through to the next meal.
If you need to eat between meals:
- Try not to eat on the run or in the car if you can avoid it
- Remember that it used to be considered rude/uncouth to eat standing up!
Only eat unprocessed whole-food snacks.
My top recommendation is to use raw or dry roasted nuts and a piece of fruit if you are hungry.
Do not snack after dinner this is the worst time to eat for health/fat loss
Look at how many times you eat in a day
Nutrition scientists call these eating events. I recommend no more than 3-4 eating events daily.
The best way of achieving this is to diary and plan your food and true hunger levels
