#61 Weighing in on the Organic Debate
There is growing research around organics, GMO, and the effects of herbicides, pesticides, and fungicides on your gut-microbiome. We know this can create heated debate. We love our growing community especially here in the food basket that is New Zealand but I'll be upfront, these are my picks in order of my preference of what food you choose:
1. Fresh, seasonal, local, and organic is best especially if it's affordable
2. Commercially grown fresh, seasonal, and local
3. Frozen - often get a bad wrap but can have more nutritional content then some "fresh" vegetables if they've been shipped halfway around the world and in cool storage for extended periods of time
4. Canned
In the live video, I talk about The Clean 15 and Dirty Dozen so you can make some informed decisions about your food choices.
The Clean 15:
- Avocados
- Sweet corn
- Pineapples
- Frozen sweet peas
- Onions
- Papayas
- Eggplant
- Asparagus
- Kiwis
- Cabbage
- Cauliflower
- Cantaloupe
- Broccoli
- Mushrooms
- Honeydew melons
The Dirty Dozen:
- Strawberries
- Spinach
- Kale
- Nectarines
- Apples
- Grapes
- Peaches
- Cherries
- Pears
- Tomatoes
- Celery
- Potatoes
This is a US list and can change from year to year pending on results from residue studies. Our NZ published NZ lists for the dirty dozen have included celery, plums, mandarins, and raspberries.
Our friends at Kingseat Organics have some spaces for their boxes available this week for those in the Auckland/Pukekohe area.

12 Week Weight loss Mastery, Motivation & Mindset Course
This 12-week course is about getting long-lasting results. The mantra is:
- Do it once
- Do it right
- Enjoy the process
We know that most diets fail and certainly don't offer a permanent solution.
We also know that what used to work when you were 20 or 30 just doesn't anymore.
You are going to enjoy the process!
Of course, you have to commit to doing the work but you owe it to yourself to look after this amazing human machine that you live in.
A key focus for the 12-week course is your mindset, especially towards food. We'll help you recognize when you are actually hungry and not using food to blunt your emotions or procrastinate. No fads or potions just real-life strategies that work. The course includes:
