#96 Winter Blues and Chia Seeds
Carrying on from last week's blog on seasonal affective disorder.
You have the information now you have to act on it!
Did I want to walk this morning? Hell no!
Was staying in bed a nicer option? _ yep!
Did I go anyway? -yep!
It's all about weighing up short term pleasure against long term gain.
Get going:

Chia seeds
This tiny gluten-free whole food is loaded with fibre and omega 3's and has massive nutrient benefits for few calories.
28g = 137 calories but you can only absorb 101!
28g gives you a whopping 11g of fibre.
This is soluble fibre, so chia seeds can absorb 10-12 times their weight in water.
You will know this if you have ever soaked them to make a chia pudding or added them to your overnight oats.
11g of every 12g of carbs they contain is soluble fibre.
You cannot absorb these carbs and don't need to count them.
Soluble fibre is fantastic for gut health.
28g also gives you 4g protein, 18% of your daily calcium requirement, 30% magnesium, 27% phosphorus and a healthy dose of zinc, niacin, potassium, thiamine and B12.
They are also high in omega 3's.
The lowdown is that this superfood is great for protection from heart disease and some cancers due to its anti-inflammatory properties and great for bone health too!
You can eat them raw or soaked.
They are a great addition to rice, quinoa, veggies, breakfast, and smoothies
